If we go back to the office, will dogs come too?

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

After spending nearly 2 years working from home, people are split on whether or not they want to return to the office...and so are their pets.

About 23 million American households adopted a new pet during the pandemic. And neither they, nor their new furry friends, are too keen on being separated. 71% of Gen Zers and 48% of millennials want to bring their pets with them when they return to the workplace.

This has made many employers consider dogs (sorry, cats!) allowed in the office. Before the pandemic, about 9% of companies allowed dogs to come to work with their owners. But in a recent survey, 50% of employers said they will allow employees to bring their pets to work.

With 57% of pet owners saying they'll be most happy returning to their workplace if they can bring their pets with them, the question of whether or not to allow pets is something all leaders need to at least consider for the well-being of their employees.
